When is the best time to mail?

This depends greatly on your target market and your industry. The key to direct mail is mailing consistently. You can test by mailing at different times and tracking your responses to see what works best for you. There are many ways to track your mailing. Your marketing consultant will be able to help you determine a workable method for you.

Joy made reference in her email to “postal regulations” that were often times confusing.
I don’t do any mailing myself, but the clients I refer to postcard do – so I need to understand what issues they face.
Can you give some examples of postal regulations that are confusing, ridiculous, or both?

One that comes to mind actually has to do with design and mailing: in order to get certain rates, it is sometimes necessary to design around a “mailing space” or imaginary box. So we’ve definitely had people run into situations where they already had pieces printed that did not conform and ended up paying more for postage. That’s just one example of postal regulations sneaking up on you.
